We warranty our work. Only our work.
The five-year warranty is real and it is written down, but it has a boundary, and we would rather you know exactly where it is before you hire us than after something goes wrong. Here it is in plain language.
What is covered
Five years from the invoice date, on the work described on that invoice.
- Our workmanship, for five years from the date of your invoice, on the electrical work you hired Griz Electric to perform.
- The specific circuits, devices, fixtures, panels and equipment we supplied and installed under that invoice.
- If something we installed fails because of how we installed it, we come back and correct it — no labor charge, no trip charge.
- Parts and fixtures we supplied carry their manufacturer’s warranty. Inside our five years we handle the claim and install the replacement at no labor charge.
- Our connections, terminations, torque, splices, supports, routing, boxes, grounding and bonding on the work we performed.
- Permitted work stays permitted. If an inspector fails something we installed, we correct it at no charge.
What is not covered
If we did not sell it and install it, it is outside this warranty.
- Anything we did not sell and install. Existing wire, connectors, devices, fixtures, panels, breakers, lights and equipment are not covered — even where they sit inches from our work, and even if we tied into them, tested them or worked around them.
- Customer-supplied or third-party materials. We will gladly install a fixture or device you bought. We do not warranty it.
- Work that has been altered, extended, repaired or tampered with by anyone other than Griz Electric.
- Damage from causes outside our work: water, fire, lightning, power surges, utility problems, rodents, insects, settling, storms, vandalism, accident, misuse or neglect.
- Pre-existing conditions and code violations outside the scope of your invoice, and code changes adopted after the installation date.
- Consumables and normal service: lamps and bulbs, batteries, filters, and breakers or GFCIs tripping on a load or device we did not install.
- Consequential and incidental damages — lost income, spoiled food, lodging, damage to property or contents. Our obligation is limited to correcting our own workmanship.
- Diagnostic time spent chasing a fault that turns out to be outside the work we performed. That is billed at our normal rate.
The one rule that decides every claim
We warranty only the work Griz Electric was hired to perform and the materials Griz Electric supplied and installed. Any other wiring, connectors, electrical systems, lights, devices or equipment in the building — anything we did not sell you — has nothing to do with this warranty and is not covered by it.
Older homes especially: we can install a flawless new circuit in a house whose existing wiring is at the end of its life. Our new work is warrantied. The rest of the house is not, and no amount of proximity to our work changes that. If we see something during a job that concerns us, we will tell you and put it in writing — but telling you about it does not put it under warranty.
Making a claim. Call 866-860-GRIZ with your invoice number and stop using the affected circuit or equipment. We will schedule a look, normally within two business days. Terms. Coverage runs five years from the invoice date and applies to the original customer at the original service address; it is not transferable and is void while an invoice is unpaid. Emergency after-hours response on a warranty call is scheduled the same as any other call. This warranty is the complete agreement on warranty between us and replaces any verbal statement; nothing in it limits rights you have under Utah law. Questions before you hire us are welcome — ask, and we will answer in writing on the estimate.
Still have a question about the warranty?
Ask before you hire us. Whatever the answer is, it goes on the estimate in writing.
